Choosing your chiropractor

Updated: Feb 21, 2019

Choosing a chiropractor can and should be daunting. There are so many options out there and if you've never been to a chiropractor before, how do you know what to look for? Here are a few tips to help you make your decision.

Ask Questions!

Most if not all Chiropractors should be willing to have a chat to you before your initial consultation. Here are a few questions you may chose to ask.

1. What kind of patients do you normally see?

- while chiropractic is usually transferable to various ages, sizes and needs, there are some chiropractors who have more experience in certain areas, ie. sport, pregnancy, paediatrics, rehabilitation. Ask away and see if they have the experiences you need.

2. Techniques

- Will their treatment be in line with your expectation? I'm guilty of being the guy that lays down for a massage and says: "do your worst! or best." I like to know I've had a massage at the end. Some chiropractor only adjust using manual treatments, some barely touch you at all and others are somewhere in between, again, this may be a preference thing and you should find out before heading in for your first session

3. Timelines

- Do you want to get in for a quick fix or do you want someone to work with you long term to optimise your health? You should be in the drivers seat. Don't be afraid to let your chiropractor know what you'd like.

Referrals A great way to find a good chiropractor is by asking around. Trusted friends and family members may have seen someone that they are comfortable with. They've already done the hard work. Ask around.

There are a lot of options out there and definitely one for you.

Good luck with your search

In health,
